Annual DC Senior Games (DCSG) in partnership with Aetna will take place Saturday, May 2, through Monday, May 18, 2020, at various DPR facilities and other locations. Last year, 300 senior athletes competed and this year looks to attract the largest field of seasoned seniors in the game’s history.
“We are proud and honored to host the senior athletes for this annual event in addition to providing facilities and programming to help our seniors stay fit all year round,†said DPR Director Delano Hunter. “The level of competition and the fun that these seniors have is a sight to behold.â€
DC Senior Games is a yearly competition, hosted by DPR and sanctioned by the National Senior Games Association (NSGA) features activities including basketball, bowling, horseshoe toss, pickleball, softball, swimming, tennis, and track and field. The event offered to DC residents age 50 and older, includes a grand opening and closing ceremony, medals and the possibility to compete against over 10,000 athletes at the National Senior Games.
The DC Senior Games opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Kenilworth Recreation Center, located at 4321 Ord Street, NE.
Note: Aetna is sponsoring the first 300 senior athletes to register by waiving the entry fee. After 300 athletes, the cost will be $20 per person to register. Bowling competitors will be responsible for additional fees.
